4-H & the Martin Luther King, Jr.
National Day of Service

4-H teens make Hero Packs for military families.4-H has a long history of engaging young people individually and collectively in solving problems and making a difference in their communities. 4-H clubs can renew their commitment to civic engagement and service as part of the larger effort to help solve community issues with collective participation in the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service on January 16, 2012.

In 2010 the national 4-H Citizenship Task Force developed a Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service 4-H toolkit to guide 4-H clubs in conducting projects that will be of service to local communities and honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Make this "a day on, NOT a day off." The day of service can be a kick-off for a year of service that inspires 4-H clubs across the country to continue mobilizing Head, Heart, Hands and Health to assist families coping with tough times.
