Grants, Awards & Scholarships

4-H and outside groups and foundations sponsor many grants and incentive programs that are open to 4-H members and clubs. States may have grants, awards and scholarships to support and recognize 4-H members, clubs/groups, volunteers, and alumni. Contact your local or state 4-H office for more information. You can also check your state 4-H Web site, the 4-H USA Web site and the Clover Corner News blog for periodic information or announcements.

Here are some grant programs from national 4-H organizations:

National 4-H Council Youth Grants Program
National 4-H Council offers grants for youth in local communities, in counties, and on the state level. These grants provide opportunities for young people and adults to take action on issues critical to their lives, their families, and their communities. Youth take the lead in the design of the project, the proposal writing process, the implementation and the evaluation of funded projects.

CSREES (USDA) Funding Opportunities
These are federal grants from CSREES (our USDA agency). They include Cooperative Extension and 4-H Youth Development grants. Many are open to land-grant universities only, so read eligibility requirements carefully.

IFYE Mini-Grants
Each year, the IFYE Association USA provides 4-H World Understanding Mini Grants to enhance interest in international understanding among youth in local communities. Seed money grants of $50 - $200 are available. Grants are made in two categories: 1. Projects in the US that deal with intercultural activities and/or projects, and 2. Projects in countries that were or are currently involved in IFYE Exchange Programs. Proposals must be received by June 1.
