The 4-H Name and Emblem are held in trust by the Secretary of Agriculture of the United States Department of Agriculture for the educational and character-building purposes of the 4-H program and can be used only as authorized by statute and according to the authorization of the Secretary or designated representative. The 4-H Name and Emblem have special protections from Congress that exceed the level of protection available for a trademark or copyright. A an EPS vector file is available to duly authorized 4-H subsidiaries and duly authorized vendors. Anyone wishing to use the 4-H Name and/or Emblem in a way that does not specify a local or state program must seek authorization to use the 4-H Name and/or Emblem from 4-H National Headquarters. In these instances, see the Application for Use page.Vendors that are working on projects for county or state 4-H programs seeking a vector file must have an appropriate 4-H county or state extension professional to submit the request on their behalf. The 4-H professional needs to confirm in writing to 4HNE@nifa.usda.gov that a specific vendor is authorized to use the 4-H Name & Emblem within that county or state for a specific time-limited project (there are no “blanket” permissions) and that the “project” specifies a local or state 4-H program, along with providing the vendor's contact information, including email address. |
